Is Matrixyl 3000 one peptide? What the ingredient name leaves out

Matrixyl 3000 is discussed like a single molecule, but it is a branded cosmetic peptide system. Product records should identify its component peptides and carrier basis.

It is not a single peptide name

Matrixyl 3000 is a trade name used for a cosmetic ingredient system built around two palmitoylated peptides, commonly identified on ingredient lists as Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7. Calling the whole system “a peptide” is convenient, but chemically incomplete.

That shortcut becomes a problem when a catalog tries to assign one sequence, one molecular weight or one purity result to the blend.

The label may describe the carrier, too

Commercial peptide actives are often supplied as solutions rather than neat peptide. Water, humectants, preservatives and other carriers can be part of the delivered ingredient. A formula claiming a percentage of Matrixyl 3000 is not necessarily claiming that percentage of pure peptide solids.

For meaningful comparison, record both the trade-material percentage and the amount of each active peptide when the supplier makes that information available.

Do not confuse it with Matrixyl

Matrixyl names have been used for more than one branded peptide technology. Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 is associated with the original Matrixyl lineage, while Matrixyl 3000 is the two-peptide system. Search results frequently mix the evidence and ingredient lists.

A sensible evidence check

Ask whether the study used the branded mixture, one isolated component or a finished product containing many actives. Then check comparator, blinding, duration and measurement method. A before-and-after photograph is not equivalent to instrumented or blinded assessment.

Check the primary record

Use a primary paper, regulator document or lot-linked analytical file for the claim it actually supports. Record the access date for time-sensitive status information.
